rooster: revisited

i decided to add another "element" to my rooster tattoo..

i felt like the top of it needed to be anchored to my arm a bit more. having the clouds on the bottom made the top part feel kind of just placed onto my arm instead of being a part of my body. so i thought i would add a sunrise (plus, it's a rooster, get it?! they love sunrises! i actually didn't get this until randy pointed it out..)

we also touched up the leaves underneath the flowers. the whole thing will be getting touched up before the wedding, probably sometime next month.

psst.. you can follow me on instagram @future_mrs_joe to see sneak peaks of the fun things i like to post on my blog!

my tattoo, finally finished!

i have to be honest with you all - my last tattoo appointment was actually the last week of december, which means my tattoo has been finished for a month now. i've just been too busy/lazy to take the time to take quality pictures of it. but what is it they say - the good things are worth waiting for?

as always, the fabulous jr sanchez did this piece for me.

wedding wednesday

as i think about my wedding day that is approximately 1 year and 8 months away, i try and visualize the big picture - the ceremony details, the reception site (even though we have neither picked out yet!), the favors, the food..

but one thing that will be a part of the picture is me! and.. i am going to be a tattooed bride.

i'll be honest - when i was growing up, my tattoos were not a part of any wedding fantasies. but they're not going anywhere any time soon, so i have to start picturing myself as a bad-ass bride with visible tattooes.

in order to help myself visualize, i consulted the web..

tattoo

cross your fingers - i think i only have 1 more session left on my arm!

the red that was put in last time wasn't quite healed all the way (red is the hardest ink to heal, so i hear), so only the big flower was able to be finished. but now the whole thing has a much more finished-looking quality to it!

download your own cute blog banners and 'bling' here & here!

next time, mr. rooster will be finished and i'll be getting some pretty badass lettering - then we'll be done!

seriously, if you need an amazing tattoo artist in the socal area, you need to get in touch with jr sanchez @ inkface tattoos / donsancheztattoo@gmail.com!

tattoo time

got more done on my rooster tattoo <3

this session was about 4 hours. i'm going back this next tuesday and my guy said he thinks he'll be able to finish 'er up!

i don't know what it was, but i felt like i sat terribly for this session! i probably sat better than i thought, but for some reason it was much MUCH more painful than usual. i think the last hour was the worst - i seriously almost started crying! it was probably because i was tired from working all day and at that point was kind of just over it. but jr helped me hang in there and i feel like we reached a good stopping point.

seriously, if you need an awesome tattoo artist in the socal area, jr sanchez is a freaking genius!

tattoo progress

on friday i had another appointment with my rock star tattoo artist to work on the flowers of my rooster/poppy tattoo!

so let me tell you really quickly about how absolutely crazy i am.. i wanted him to finish both flowers as well as color in the leaves on friday. he got pretty damn close, but man, i totally did not anticipate how crazy those flowers were going to be! he tattooed me from 7pm until 12:30am and he still needs to finish the larger poppy in the back. but that's definitely not to say he didn't get a butt load done!

i mean look how crazy-intricate that is! and there wasn't even color at this point!

here's the back flower that will be finished at my next session. it still looks pretty awesome with that veining though!

and now for the money shot..

excuse my language, but how fucking beautiful is that flower? like, is that not ridiculous??

this one was taken with my cheapy camera, but here's what my tattoo now looks like overall.

jr (my artist) is just fabulous, that's all there is to it!

for those of you wondering, jr is located in san gabriel, ca; his email is donsancheztattoo@gmail.com and he's super nice and sweet and insanely talented. you'll be a very lucky lady or fella to have a piece of his art on you ; )

october + new ink

we are now officially 3/4 of the way through 2011! so weird!

and even though i got it done yesterday, i'm starting october off with a new tattoo!

this one's for my grandparents, because i love them sosososo much!

my grandma collects all things chickens (even though this is a rooster, sorry grandma!). the poppies are for my grandpa, who is called 'poppy' by all his grandchildren. i've got at least one more session to go for the flowers (that's why there's just blood lines - those babies need color!) and to add some writing that reminds me of my grandma (you'll see later)..

even though my grandparents live in oregon & i was born and raised in california, i spent a lot of time with them growing up, and they have had (and still continue to have) a big impact on my life!

wishing you all a wicked&wonderful october!
