we have some really cute new products @ work:

how cute is this shopper bag? it's reversible, so the other side is the bright pink. 4 styles available.

these are brand new backpacks we came out with called Zippee Back Packs. 7 styles available.

a cute hanging chalk board! i would have loved one of these when i was living in the dorms.

this is technically a pet treat container, but i want to figure out how to use this in my kitchen. too bad i don't have tea bags or sugar packets or something around.

if you do get something from ore, use code BTS12 @ checkout for free shipping [expires 7/31]

thankful thursday

i am slowly but surely gearing up for thanksgiving..

and i wanted to share 10 things that i'm thankful for!

1. i'm very thankful that i have such a great family. my dad would do anything for me, my stepmom treats me like her own daughter, and my brother can be the sweetest kid on the planet - when he's not being a little booger! my grandparents are amazing, i have great aunts and uncles and cousins. and even though we might make fun of each other or complain about each other sometimes, at the end of the day it's all about love.

2. although he's #2 on this list, he's #1 in my heart - mr. randy joe. my beloved boyfriend of almost 4 years! i cherish all the memories of our best times together, and anticipate all the great adventures we will have for (hopefully) the rest of our lives together. i can't imagine how i got so lucky in finding an amazing boyfriend and my best friend all wrapped in one person!

3. ok, so honestly #1 in my heart is lilly! my devoted pup who i found through the power of craigslist. she's my stinkerdoodle & my princess girl and i couldn't imagine my life without her. she's brought an unimaginable amount of joy to both randy and me, and may she never stop loving to lick my feet!

4. i'm thankful that i have a roof over my head. i'm thankful that i have a comfy bed that i get to share with my wonderful boyfriend every night. i'm thankful that i am able to eat good meals every day and drive a nice car. (i really am lucky!)

5. i'm thankful for my job. i get to work with both of my parents (which isn't as terrible as one would think..) and it's how i was able to meet some of my closest friends. plus it comes in handy when i have to put together a baby shower gift!

come back next thursday for 6-10!

louisville, kentucky

so my trip to louisville, kentucky was.. interesting?

the reason i was there was for yet another trade show (our last one of the year, thank god..)

the abc kids expo is the largest children's industry show around. it used to be held in vegas, but for some awkward reason, they decided to relocate to kentucky this year, and it will probably kill the whole show.

the sugarbooger by ore' booth

anyway, kentucky is famous for three things: the kentucky derby, bourbon, and KFC.

they also have some interesting cuisine in kentucky, since it's a 'southern' state. one day at the show i got a pulled pork sandwich from one of the lunch trucks, and it was actually really delicious! i'm not usually one for pork, but when in rome, right?

but then there was just some freaky stuff. we went to this barbeque restaurant called doc crow's, and since i typically am not a bbq person, i thought the crab sandwich would be a good pick. little did i know..

i hope you see that. yes, it's a whole fried crab. on a bun. i'm one of those freaky people who can't eat things when they look alive. it was pretty difficult to get through that meal..

there was one free afternoon to explore downtown louisville. the downtown area is cute.. but it's literally the only place that has anything going for it. there are a lot of restaurants and bars, and some cute shops, and a lot of museums.

the ohio river

so you can get an idea of how bizarre the entire trip was: one day after the show was over, they had this reception for the exhibitors and buyers where there was food and then a concert afterward. and the entertainment?

you probably can't tell just from the photo, but that's kc & the sunshine band. like:

just.. kind of weird. a little fun, but mostly weird.

new kats on the block

so i've mentioned before that feral cats have the habit of having kittens in our warehouse @ work..

we have a new batch!

there are 3 girl kittens: an all-grey one, an orange striped one, and a brown&black striped one.

my parents are taking the orange one as a mate for the cat they rescued from the warehouse a couple of months ago, and my stepmom's sister is contemplating adopting the grey one. i desperately want the brown&black one, but my stupid boyfriend is allergic to cats : (

see?! she loves me already!!! : (

by the way, look at how big mr. fluffypants is! remember when he was an itty bitty kidden?

trade show 101

so last month, i was in new york for a couple of weeks to work at the New York International Gift Fair.

to be quick, this trade show is for wholesalers to display their products for buyers who work at retail stores and decide what product to bring into their stores. it's kind of like working at a regular retail store - you greet people, help them write orders, answer any questions they have..

hopefully most of you are familiar with the company i work for, but at ore' we have 3 lines - SugarBooger for children, Ore' Pet, and Living Goods.

we display our stuff in two sections of the trade show. there is a special section that is only for baby & children items, so we have one booth there. in this booth, we only display SugarBooger - this is my favorite booth to work and it's where i was during most of the show.

our second booth is upstairs in a section called 'general gift.' in this booth, we have items from all 3 of our lines.

my stepmom, owner of ore', and my little brother

although they are long days and can be very exhausting, working at the trade show can be fun. it's a nice break from sitting in the office, and it is kind of nice to deal with people face-to-face - if they're nice people that is. the most exciting part about these shows is all the new customers that find us! it's awesome to see their face light up as they say, "your stuff is so cute!"

after the trade show is over and we all fly back home and get back to the office, it's my job to start processing all of the orders we wrote. this can be more work than actually being at the trade show!

but don't feel left out - you can see all our products on our website!
